The limp-ity limp of little feet….

Well, it’s been a crazy couple of days. Monday night after bath, Greyson decided to try some wild gymnastic happy jump, while being wrapped in a huge bath towel and ended up with a twisted foot and head/knee collision. He complained a bit, but he could move everything that should move and settled down fairly quickly, so into bed the little man went. Tuesday morning started with screams of pain and me finding Greyson clinging to the wall standing on one foot. He wouldn’t put any pressure on his right foot at all, even though he could move his ankle/toes/etc… and there was no sign of swelling, bruising or redness. A quick call to the Pediatrician had us in the car and on our way. Once at the Dr. Weeble proved that I was wrong and he indeed could walk on his foot (when enticed with the promise of stickers and cool toys) but he had a VERY obvious limp and after a few steps he wanted to be picked up. The Dr. decided after much poking and prodding with absolutely no reaction from Weeble to send us home to wait 24 hours. So home we came prepared to give him Tylenol or Motrin for pain and hope and pray the limp would be gone by morning.

Fast Forward to this morning and the child is still the limp-ity-limp man. So in the car we go on our way for x-rays. Weeble was a champ!! He kept his foot perfectly still and let the good technicians snap away lots of angles of his darling foot and ankle. (I take full credit for his amazing foot posing – it’s all the pictures I take I tell you!!).

Well the results came in a few hours later, and……….. He’s FINE!

There was swelling in the tendon’s that run along the bones in his foot (the 3 that go to the 3 middle toes) but nothing was broken/fractured/torn etc… Hooray! So they are calling it – ‘pulled tendons’.

There is nothing we can do other than keep him off it (yeah right) and give him medicine for the pain, it “should” be all better in a couple of days. They said if he’s still limping around on Friday to give them a call, they would then want to do detailed imaging of the soft tissue in his foot. But, my guess is, he’ll be running and jumping in no time!!

I have a feeling that with Weeble’s love for jumping, running and all out craziness, these will not be the last x-ray’s we get…

  1. Greyson, I remember when your Grandpa Willison pulled the wringer washing machine over on him and he couldn't stand on either leg and he was 2 yrs. old, so off to the hospital we went for x-rays. Nothing to be alarmed about, just contusions and bruises and by the next day he was walking. Scared me half to death.
Love you and glad you didn't get hurt. Grandma Marcia

I used to entertain my brothers and sisters by jumping from my dressers to the bed. Jumping I see is another part of your family on both sides. :-} Maybe you should do cross crountry and jump the hurdles????? Hugs and kisses, Grandma
