Photo Update

Yesterday we skipped story time because of the light. It was a perfectly overcast morning, not too cold, not too bright a good day for photo's of Weeble Wobble at the beach!

Enjoy!

Independence-101

I blog a lot about independence and Weeble’s steps into toddler-hood, boy-hood and beyond. It’s mostly due to the fact that we’re there; we’re ridding that line of all on my own and yet still the baby. He chooses walking on his own, putting on his own shoes, carrying his own things. His favorite sentence has to be “I do it!” he uses his name now all the time “Greyson’s shoes, Greyson’s hat, Greyson’s chair” although he says “Gaysin”, he’ll tell you his name and that he lives in “Pam Toast”. And then, in the midst of “I do it” and “No, No, Mommy” he’ll have a moment, a moment of not so much a toddler, of checking in to make sure that mom is there, mere steps behind, just in case he needs me. He has his little ways of testing, to see if he really is out there on his own, forging ahead and blazing his own trail all by himself, or if maybe just maybe, moms there, ready to catch him if he falls, at the ready with anything he might need, be it snack, a sip, a cuddle or a Band-Aid. It’s a fun time and a hard time for mom and baby alike I’m sure, that teeter totter of yes and no and sometimes not really sure if either will work. Every day I see him take these giant steps forward, and occasionally a baby step back, in the end he just gets further and further away. Ultimately it’s what every parent wants, a child who’s secure, independent but knows that mom and dad are right there if ever he needs them, it’s every parent’s goal, dream and reality, and yet right now in the moment it’s sad. It’s wonderful, but it’s sad.

I can’t help but think if it’s like this at 2, what am I going to do at 15??

(Blazing his own trail, making his own path...)

Weeble-ism's"

Some call them sunglasses, Weeble calls them "eye-shades".

and we just can't leave home with out our "eye-shades" or our hat!

and then the rain came....

We listen to the pitter patter of rain drops, watching them race down the window. Quiet moments spent inside on a cold and dreary day, a day made for make believe and long stories, hot cups of cocoa and chocolate chip cookies. Tucked inside finding the quiet of no where to rush off too, no deadlines to meet, no meet me at 10:00, but we have to leave by 11:30. Just time to play, to be creative, to look out at the day and dream, to take extra long naps and to just be still…..
Yet, even in the gloomiest of gloomy days, with rain and clouds and mist of cold, a bright spot to warm your heart.

Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboy's...

The Weeble loves (and I mean LOVES) to watch bull riding!

Enjoy the clip, and don't forget to keep an eye on his riding style (particularly his left arm!)...

Why say it, when you can sing it?

From the day we brought the Weeble home, we’ve been a bit musical with him (and we are not musical people). However, we listen to music, we sing along (often at the top of our lungs), we sing normal songs and make up silly songs and everything has a theme song, for example:

(to the tune of row your boat)
Brush, Brush, Brush your teeth
get the germies out!
Brush the left and brush the right
Brush them every night!

Anyway, lately it seems Greyson has taken to this family tradition (especially that part about singing at the top of our lungs). He rolls around the house on his tricycle singing his little heart out, he serenades the entire line at Wal-Mart, he answers in song, “No, Nooooo, Nooooooo!”, and even makes up his own silly little theme songs, for example when he has a dirty diaper:

(to no particular tune)
Mooooommmyy Poooooppppyy
Mooommmy Pooop, Pooop , Poooop
Moommy Stinnnnky, pooopy, stink!

Ah, family traditions at their finest…..

*** NEW *** Friday’s Fashion Feature!

Ok, so it’s the first Friday of a new year and I have an idea, a brilliant one really, and hopefully I’ll be able to stick with this idea and make it a reality!! So here goes... Every Friday, I plan to snap a picture of Greyson (preferably against a plain white background) I’ll post the picture along with the info on his adorable outfit of the day (therefore making it a “Friday Fashion Feature!”) the cool part though will be at the end of this year, I’ll have 52 pictures all one week apart and when put into a cool video montage we will see the slow (ahem, way too fast) growing progression of the Weeble!! Cool idea huh?

So, without further ado, the first ever Mommy-hood 101, Friday Fashion Feature!

(I said Cheese, not cheesy!)

Red Fleece Pullover by Gymboree
White onsie under shirt by The Children’s Place
Jeans – Genuine Kid by Target
Shoes – by StrideRite
and of course a ball cap because in Weeble’s world, no outfit is complete with out a ball cap! This particular one is by Lids.

3 posts in one day!

I'm in a posting mood...

Dear Weeble,

Today was a good day, you were very snugly and happy to just sit in Mommy's lap and rock the afternoon away, tucked under a warm blanket, sharing secrets, and giggling for no reason at all. With each passing day you grow into such a boy, a boy that I'm proud of, amazed by and so in love with. Your imagination is booming, your words are flowing, and your sense of humor gets more and more hilarious by the second. I look at you and wonder, "how on earth did I get so lucky to be the mother of this child, this child that at the age of 2 shows such kindness to others, who is smart and funny and full of charm? How did I get to be the mother or a child that can melt your heart, make you laugh and smile until your face hurts?" You my dear Weeble are one of a kind, and to me, you are the best kind ever. I love you so much sweet Weeble Wobble, more that you'll ever know...

Love,
Mommy

He was Cold!

Him: (from his crib) Mommy!! Mommy – Cooooold!!!!

Me: (rushing to his room) Hey buddy, what’s wrong?

Him: Me, cooooold!

Me: Want to put footy jams on over your PJ’s?

Him: (while making a full zip up motion) Zzzzziiiiiiiiiip!

Me: (as I zip up the footy jams) Ok little man are you warm now?

Him: No, rock.

Me: Ok, we’ll snuggle and rock for a bit.

Him: (not more than 20 seconds later) Mommy?

Me: Yeah Bud?

Him: Waaaaarrrrrrrrm, go sleepy. (pointing to his crib)

It’s so much fun to have actual conversations, even if it is way past bed time and it’s FREEZING!

Blue sky...

On a crisp and cold day in Florida, the sky was the bluest of blues. That is, unless you could see it reflected in the most beautiful eyes of all…
