A note from Mom...

Dear Sweet Weeble Wobble,

I think this morning I figured out my mommy-hood 101 lesson for this year. Patience.

I’m quite certain that you come by your dramatics very honestly, your Mama’s been known to be a tad dramatic a time or two (I see you snickering Greg!) but honey bunches, you are taking it to a whole new level, and while I’m proud of your ability to show your emotions and your acting range is inspiring to say the least, some of the drama really has to stop. I know that you like to (play in the water) er, I mean wash your hands, but honey after a good 10 minutes, I promise they are clean. Also baby, mommy is good, but she can’t read your mind, so when you tell mommy you want your waffle in pieces, you just can’t change your mind after its cut up already, mommy can’t put it back together. I know that maybe these things seem like the end of the world and worthy of crying jags and running to your room to fall across your bed in an utter display of defiance, but my darling I promise in the grand scheme of things, it’s not so bad. So while mommy works on being patient and understanding your need to do everything your way on your own, even when you physically can’t, do you think you can work with mommy just a bit too?

Thanks baby, I love you.

Love,
Mom

Warning! Little boy humor coming your way!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you….

Tonight as I rocked Greyson to sleep, he let the loudest and smelliest I might add, toot you have ever heard. He immediately sat up in my lap looked me dead in the eye and said:

“Mommy, was that you?”

“No, Honey that was you.”

“No, that was you. Ewe. Nasty.”

Then he proceeded to lay his head back down on my shoulder and giggle himself to sleep.

Friday's Fashion Feature (finally!)

Greyson is wearing...

Polo Shirt - The Children's Place
Khaki Shorts - Gymboree
Shoes - Carter's

(he has a 'crazy look' going on in this one!)

No this is not the Friday Fashion Feature (it’ll be up later, I promise!)

However, I think you’ll like this!

I’ve been researching photoshop tutorials like a mad woman the last couple days in an effort to learn how to produce a good ‘High Key’ black and white image. I bribed Greyson with tales of playing out side with this new bubble machine and lots of candy to sit for me so I could get a few snapshots that might work for the ‘High Key’ look I was going for.

This is what we came up with…

These are just a couple more that don't have the 'High Key' affect but are super cute!!

Listen to your heart…

Today we went to see Greyson’s cardiologist. It’s been a year since we last saw him and even though, I know in my heart that Greyson is fine, I always get very nervous and filled with anxiety before these appointments. (Sorry Honey, I know I was a bit grumpy…)

The appointment went GREAT! Our doctor, who I love, said that Greyson looked perfect and that his heart sounded good. There is still the (murmur) which is caused from ‘turbulence’ as blood passes through the restricted valve, but he could clearly hear the valve close and the ‘turbulence’ remains mild. WOO HOO!

We won’t do another ECHO, until either a.) Something shows up that gives us reason for it, or b.) Greyson’s old enough to stay calm and quiet through the ECHO. He still gets a little upset at the office (who can blame him) but maybe by next year he’ll be ready for it. He will need one before he starts school though.

All in all, it was a great day and here are a few cute pictures to prove it!

Enjoy!

A Charmed Life...

Years ago my Grandmother gave me her charm bracelet. I can remember being little and sitting next to Grandma looking at all the charms, asking over and over again to tell me about each one and why it was on the bracelet. There are some very old “charms” on this bracelet that I love having, the one engraved with my Great Grandfather Laurels (who I never met) name and dated 1931, another one dated 1929 for ‘All Around Judging Champion’, the tiny little case that holds two dimes and is dated 1904, the tiny silver frames that hold pictures of my cousin Brian, my brother and I. All the charms mean something, are a representation of me and the family I come from. My mom found the first charm that I added to this bracelet a few years ago, it is a silver high heeled shoe, and it truly is a representation of me! This weekend I found two other charms that just really seemed to fit, a palm tree because we live in Florida, and a Mickey Mouse.

I wonder if this bracelet will some day be passed to my daughter, a daughter-in-law or a granddaughter perhaps. I wonder if that girl will bring it out from its velvet pouch and look through the charms with her child as I have done with Greyson?

I hope so…

Disney….

We had a fabulous weekend at Disney! This was our first time to Magic Kingdom with Greyson and it was so much fun to watch the wonder and delight in his eyes! Here are a few random snap shots from the park, for a girl who take thousands of pictures, I really dropped the ball this weekend and didn’t seem to take many at all! Luckily we’ll be back soon!

(very early in the morning, on the bus for our character breakfast...)

Update on the big boy bed…

It’s gone amazingly well and smooth. Weeble is happily sleeping the nights away in his big boy bed as if it were still his crib! He’s still easy to put down for naps, and he’s yet to come out of his room when he should be sleeping! It’s really amazing, I was SO worried and it’s been a piece of cake. Most mornings and nap times I go in and wake him (the little peanut will just sleep the day away!) but the couple of times that he’s come out of his room in the morning or after nap on his own have been so adorable! He shuts his door behind him when he comes out, which totally cracks me up, and the sleepily comes and finds me, and when he does he always says “its morning now, I get up!” It’s the cutest thing E.V.E.R.!!

Even if he does wake up in the middle of the night, he’s been calling for me and not getting up, which I think is great (even greater when he sleeps straight through, but ya know, beggars can’t be choosers!). Mostly it’s just been one big success and I’m learning more and more everyday that he really is a pretty easy kiddo, and that if I’d stop stressing and just let him do what he’s ready to do, he’s just do it.

How he wakes up...

Friday's Fashion Feature (1 day late...)

Ahhh!! Yesterday was CRAZY! Sorry I didn't get these posted until today!

Greyson is wearing:

Long sleeve shirt - The Children's Place

Overalls - Gymboree (I can't remember which collection)

and of course, his Florida Hat! (backwards today, that's new for him!)

(His somber look...)

(and this is why it's so hard to get a cute picture anymore!)

Big Boy Changes…

Yesterday, Weeble decided that it was ok for him to climb in and out of his crib. I have really really really wanted to keep him in his crib as long as possible. I hated the thought of him being in his toddler bed, but alas, it was time to convert his crib to the toddler bed. I think that it was actually a good thing that it happened the way it did, I didn’t really have a choice, he was climbing in and out and it just needed to be changed, no deadline, no time to prepare, just do it. It made me feel a little sad, and a little weepy. He went from looking so big in his crib, to looking so small in his toddler bed (which is really funny because they are the exact same size!). I worried that when he realized he had the ability to just get out of bed and begin to play we’d have a nightmare on our hands. Well, I’m happy to report that his first night in the ‘big boy’ bed was a complete success, he did not get up once! Hopefully tonight (night 2) will go as smooth…
I must say too that I’m even more in love with his crib. Converting to a toddler bed was so easy and it’s so safe and adorable, and I know that when we change to the full size bed, I’m still going to love it! So, if you know anyone who is looking for a quality bed that will literally last your child a life time (yes, Greyson you will be taking this bed with you when you move out, you know in like 40 years…) I highly recommend this company: http://www.babysdream.com/ I think all the models are beautiful but this is Weebles: http://www.babysdream.com/Products/GenerationNext/Default.htm

Two Funnies…

We had a plate full of chocolate chip cookies on the counter over the weekend, and Saturday morning from the moment he woke up, Weeble had been asking for a cookie, and was continually told “Not now honey, after breakfast.” Shortly after breakfast, I came into the office to work on the computer and Greg was getting ready to play golf, Weeble popped his head in the office door.
“What doing Momma?”

“Just working buddy, do you need something?”

“No, I go play now. Ok?”

“Ok, baby. Have Fun.”

After a few minutes, I noticed I didn’t hear any cars clashing, Elmo’s singing, Diego’s rescuing or piano’s playing. “Hmmmm… what is he up to?”

So, as I walk into the living room, I see my sweet Weeble quickly put his hand behind his back and with a mouth covered in chocolate and quite full of cookie as he says: “Hi Momma, I’m just playing!”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

A little back story first: At night time after stories I often ask Greyson, “Do you want to rock? Or, would you like to get into your crib?”

Now on to my story….

Before my brain even realizes it, I’m half way across the house, hearing little cries of “Mommmmmmy!! Oh… .MOMMY!”

I look at the clock as I pass, it’s 4:37 a.m. man, I had really been sleeping well for a change… “Mommmy!!”

The minute I open his door, his little head pops up above the crib rail and he says, and I quote: “HI! Mommy! Want to rock?”

It totally cracked me up because he said it with question in his voice, like I always do at bedtime asking him, and all I could think at 4 in the morning was rock like rock-n-roll. So of course I started to giggle, which made him giggle and then it took 45 minutes to get him back to bed.

Ahhh… mommy-hood. It ROCKS!

A boy and his dog…

We have 2 dogs, Mayhem and Chaos, Greyson loves them, but he’s also a bit terrified of them. They are HUGE Labrador Retrievers, Mayhem weighs in at a whopping 135 pounds and Chaos (or Katie as we call her) is a dainty 115. They are both very good dogs, but they are big and they still think that they are puppies, they want to lick you, and lay their heads in your lap and play, which is a bit intimidating to a 35 pound toddler. So Greyson is happy to stay on his side of the fence, with the doggies on theirs and throw treats or the ball over the fence and stick his little hand through to pet or get a lick, but that’s about it. As soon as the gate comes open, he wants to picked up, NOW!

I know that soon the day will come when he feels comfortable to run and play and wrestle with our ‘first babies’ but until then, this little doggie does the job…

(He walked this little dog around the entire park...)

(Something was cracking him up? Must have been the doggie...)

Texture

Lately I have found myself so inspired by so many photostreams on Flicker. I ooh and ahh and think to myself, "I so need to do that" with every photo I see. I've noticed so many photographers out there using textures on their photo's and I love the way they can make it turn out! So... I've been practicing with a few, I'm not completely sold on them yet, but I think with a little practice and the perfect photo to make it work, I will get there.

This is what I have so far...

Explore...

Greyson and I spent a day last week exploring the gardens at one of our local State Parks. We had a beautiful crisp and sunny day to meander our way down stone paths, around little ponds full of colorful fish, turtles and even a snake! We enjoyed the blooms of spring flowers, the charm of a little bench or grand gazebo, and the hidden paths that seemed to be endless.

Watching Greyson delight in even the smallest leaf was a ton of fun. It’s one of my greatest joys as a mom, to have those moments of seeing old and familiar things in a whole new way through your child’s eyes.

I was able to catch the great explorer in action, and know that we’ll be using this spot for many a photo shoot to come!
